<<So why the hell are the hispanics are making an alliance with German in this thread.
>>

Hispanic countries, specially some ones like Chile and Spain are very Germanophile in general.

Germanics are more hardworking then Romance natives. Compare Flemish workiness to French laziness in Belgium. England, Holland, Flanders, Germany, Austria, Luxemburg, Lichtenstein and Switzerland and the Scanderlands are workloving nation, France and Spain are workshy viva imperialist nations.

The height of French and Spanish work effic consists of selling rotten melons, olives and stinky dryed nasty Latin sausuage and amphibian meat on the side of dusty baked pot-holed roads.

Is it true that there are people who love working? I love having loads of money and not having to work.

German may not be much use in Asia or America but it remains a powerful language in Europe, due to economic weight and sheer number of native speakers. It retains lingua franca stauts in parts of Eastern Europe although English is increasingly making its presence felt.
Franco   Mon Jan 25, 2010 9:19 am GMT
The problem is that Europe is becoming less and less powerful in comparison to USA, China or even Iran. Furthermore, the presence of a English speaking country in Europe like UK spoils the role of German as an European lingua franca.

Qwaggmireland , if it consists only in being hardworking then donkeys and mules are even better than the Germanic countries. There are other important things that count like creativity and artistic sensibility . I quote Orson Welles: " In Italy for thirty years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love; they had five hundred years of democracy and peace and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock"

Not only Germans and Hispanics.

If the question is if French is important nowadays, Americans, British, Italians, Germans and Hispanics are all making an alliance very fast.

The answer is that French is in free fall.

Flanders, Elssass-Lothringen, Malmund-Arlen and Brittany etc will rise up and break free from Franco-fascism. Savoy, Basque, Corsican and Catalan will make up the southern front against Franco-fascism.

<<The problem is that Europe is becoming less and less powerful in comparison to USA>>

Isn't the USA collapsing as we speak (or write)? It won't be a superpower much longer -- maybe it no longer i.s

Of course, the long term demographic trend for Europe is pretty grim, so it's bound to fade away itself, compared to Brazil, India, China, and perhaps Africa.

The next superpower will be China.

Chinese will be the language of the future.

Also countries like Russia, India, Brazil, South Africa, Saudi Arabia have got lot of natural resources which the West will be relying on in the future.
