Romanian a MADE up language
Agnes
you show your ignorance.
Britannica form whom derived that article is from 1911
Comparative lignuistic appeared much later....
Don't you think that is something worng?
Don't you think that wikipedia is biased?
Don't you think that reading a book is more usefull than internet?
Why shall I believe some trolls from a forum without log in and password when there are oficial websites that say
>Italian is generally considered to be the one most closely resembling Latin in terms of vocabulary and pronunciation,
though Romanian most closely preserves the grammar of Classical Latin<
http://www.italylink.com/woi/language/
I don't believe a word from this forum posters
Italian, sardianian, sicilian and even spanish to some extent, are closer to Classical & Vulgar latin.
While Romanian is exempted and is on it's own. It has more Slavic influence then Spanish's influence of arabic. What does that tell you? The only-thing that people know of Romania is "dracula" and it's wishy-washy past. And the fact that it's the only language that PERSERVED the declension; also that not a lot of people know about it and refer it as a Romance Language derivative.
{{{NOT EVEN, Romanian less then 100years will become a ecclesiastical language then in another hundred or less years it'll become extinct.}}} They'll either have to conform with Russian (again! haha) or Spanish or English. We'll have the last laugh!
agreed.
hmmm ?
So funny how suddenly this people apeared here out of nowhere
Tiffany
Catalofon
Easterner
Sander

Hadrian
etc
I bet they're just one user faking them !
Sardinian,Italian,Spanish,Sicilian,Asturian,Romanian are the most conversative in Classical & vulgar latin. Nonetheless, more or less!
Dear Italian >S.P.Q.R< from antimoon
The letters S.P.Q.R. is an initialism in Latin emblazoned on the standards of the Roman legions and was used by the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. It currently appears in the modern coat of arms of the city of Rome,
The letters S.P.Q.R are:
S----------Latin=Senatus -----Romanian=Senatul--------Italian=SenatO
P----------Latin=Populus -----Romanian=Popular---------Italian=PopOlO
Q- Quiritium being the genitive plural of Quiris, "citizen"
R---------Latin Romanus -----Romanian=Romanul-------Italian=RomanO
You as Italian are not even worthy for the "S.P.Q.R" nickname. Because the inscription in Italian was again bimboolified with 'O' endings. Only Romanian kept the more conservative SPQR words
LATIN----------SENATUS----POPULUS-----QUIRITIUM------ROMANUS
ROMANIAN-----SENATUL----POPULAR-----QUIRITIUM------ROMANUL
ITALIAN--------SENATO-----POPOLO------QUIRITIUM------ROMANO
The Senate and the citizens' Roman people
Mussolini, who apart from this use, started using SPQR on many other occasions as a way to make propaganda for his regime. Same as you.
As a Romanian I should keep the "S.P.Q.R" nickname as Romanian is more conservative. And you should change it to BIMBO !
From now on I'll be known on antimoon as S.P.Q.R!
If a Roman citizen would hear a Modern Italian word as POPOLO, instead of POPULUS (Latin) POPULAR (romanian) he probably would die laughing for hours...
Come on people, just say POPOLO without laughing ! You can't ! :)

This post was not by me. I'm sure Aldo figured that one out.
My two cents about -o: I do not think that names that end in -o sound feminine at all. Also, I speak Italian and think it is a very beautiful language indeed. Bimbo lola? Chi se ne frega? I like Italian therefore I must like "bimba lola" too. Why is it a bad thing? Beauty is subjective. If you do not like it, fine. But not everyone will share your opinion.
If you're going to try to impersonate me, at least try to to do it well, instead of totally off-kilter to my views and general opinions. I personally think this conversation is extrememly superficial. Why do we care what language is closer to Latin? Does it make them any better or worse? Not to me.
<<I bet they're just one user faking them !>>
Yes all posts by "Tiffany" today that were posted before Thu Mar 02, 2006 2:29 am GMT were posted by an impersonator, not me. I doubt Jordi, Sander or Easterner would ever get into this discussion so someone (perhaps the same person) is impersonating them too. Jordi, Sander and Easterner all expressing the "same" thought in a matter of minutes? I think not.
I will not return to this thread again except to defend myself against anymore impersonators and/or correct foreign language phrases. I also respect all languages and would never call them "gay" (which sounds childish and immature) or wish extintion on them. Diversity is beautiful. If you see a "Tiffany" and the post is not about one of the things I mentioned, you may safely assume it is a troll.
Sorin; your pathetic.
If a Roman citizen would hear a Modern Italian word as POPOLO, instead of POPULUS (Latin) POPULAR (romanian) he probably would die laughing for hours...
Come on people, just say POPOLO without laughing ! You can't ! :)
----------------->>>.
popular;
[15th century. Via Anglo-Norman populer from Latin popularis “of the people,” from populus “people” (source of English people and public), of uncertain origin: probably from Etruscan .]
Populus-populo-popolo (at least we can see the evolution from it)
While Romanian chose to use "of the people" reference. Which is not a direct derivative. More like "tenere is to habere" it's close enough; but I think a roman soldier would get confused on that, (popular) to refer to 'people'
I think popolo would sound strange, but close enough in a sense.
Popularis-populari-'popular'. (romanian's derivative) "of the people"
Populus-populo-'popolo'. (Italian's derivative) "People"
Populus-populo-pobulo-poblo-pueblo (spanish's derivative) "people"
@ Sorin
Please don't fake me
@ Luis Zalot
I totally agree with you. Il tuo italiano è molto buono comunque! :)
By the way sorin what is the romanain word for children. Hmmmm
>As a Romanian I should keep the "S.P.Q.R" nickname as Romanian is more conservative. And you should change it to BIMBO !

Dear BIMBO. As I said before 'POPOLO' sounds more like indian 'POPODOMS'. POPOLO doesn't sound Latin.
I repeat ! If a Roman citizen would hear a Modern Italian word as POPOLO, instead of POPULUS (Latin) POPULAR (romanian) he probably would die laughing for hours...
Italian word “POPOLO” confirms the BIMBO LOLA effect of Italian, Italian has a morbid tendency of adding “O” endings at any word possible, even replacing the internal “U” with “O”. Not even speaking about the names. Almost every international masculine name in Italian has an O ending.
Dear people, even my Romanian name SORIN, is SORINO in Italian !!!
I wont let you to BIMBOOLIFY my name Sorin into SorinO.
That is way I love French. French is a sober language not A BIMBO language like ItalianO, with a morbid tendency of adding “O” endings at any word possible!
CapitO ?
just a qustion, why italian is ading this >O< at the end of every masculine name ? my real name is Darin will it be Darino in Italian ?
thanks
Sorin, you again show your ignorance
S.P.Q.R = SENATUSPOPOLUSQUEROMANUS
Que is an enclitc word for et.
Sorry, I just made a fool of myself, but the above post was really by me (the close posting date may convince those who doubt), I just forgot to write my name. I really think is time the posters on this forum were required to log in, as at Langcafe. Otherwise, it will become a troll's paradise (or should I say it is one even now?).
