There is a village in Cambridgeshire (England) called Six Mile Bottom.

By the same token, Adam, will the village have to be renamed Nine Point Six Five Five Six One Six Three Kilometre Bottom? They'll have to have village signs almost as wide as the road leading into the place!
Adam   Wed Mar 08, 2006 7:23 pm GMT
Yep.

"The whole 9 yards" will become "The whole 8.2296" metres.

We won't be burying people "6 feet under." We'll be burying them "1.8288 metres under."

The American band "9 Inch Nails" will have to change their name to "22.86 Centimetre Nails."

"What the hell is wrong with symbols on roadsigns? Ireland along with other EU countries including Poland uses standardized EU symbols. So I assuming the Poles would understand the signs."

The symbols will remain the same. The writing on them at the moment is in Irish and English. Polish will be added to it. I don't see how this move can help prevent accidents. The important signs such as stop or children crossing are obvious which leads me to the conclusion again that the adding of Polish will do feck all to help.
BNP   Wed Mar 08, 2006 9:40 pm GMT
"The Poles have a website "Our Cork" ,they are laying claims already."

You better start learning polish because the slavs are pouring into Ireland. The BBC web site states that 50,000 latvians are in Ireland at the moment. That doesn't include poles or estonians or any other eastern european. Your country seems to be going down hill fast.

I don't see the point putting Polish on signs. I think they should just make them have a bi-ligual driver's test. It's much better to hit 2 birds with one stone - their lack of English and learning the Irish road rules.

BNP - Why do you give a damn about the Republic of Ireland? I met one of your representives of my area to my disgust calling for the downfall of the Irish Republic. Again we English are pulled into the mud by idiots like you and your party.

"Adam - another BNP member?"

Just a Prick.

"Ireland, France, Germany etc - Brussels's poodles."

Of course, Britain is included in that etc.

"BNP - Why do you give a damn about the Republic of Ireland? I met one of your representives of my area to my disgust calling for the downfall of the Irish Republic."

The BNP is a wannabe neo-nazi group. They're about as much a threat to us as a poodle. What a weird comparison. Where did I get that from? Ah well.
Guest   Thu Mar 09, 2006 9:15 pm GMT
I personally find it normal that signs are written in Flemish is the Flemish part of Belgium and in French in the French part. I don't understand the meaning of this post ?...

"The British National party and other far-right groups may be behind a spate of vicious racist attacks in loyalist areas of Northern Ireland, it emerged yesterday.
The most recent came over the weekend when a family originally from Uganda and a group of Chinese people - including two heavily pregnant women - were driven from their homes in the deprived Village area of South Belfast.

One of the women is due to give birth on Christmas Day and has been taken into hospital for observation.

Inspector Keith Gilchrist of the Police Service Northern Ireland said: "It is absolutely horrific that people should be put out of their homes at any time but particularly at this time of year. We are having to seek temporary accommodation with the assistance of the social services."

A gang attacked at least three houses, smashing windows with bricks. In one house a man was battered in the face with a brick.

The African man who did not wish to be named said: "I think the best thing that the politicians can do is just to educate the people that are thought to be doing all this.

"If only they could educate them that we are just part of the community, that we are as normal as them, we breathe the same air, we have the same blood, we are simply the same as they are."

Police are treating the attacks as racially motivated and it is thought that racist groups based in England may be organising them. The BNP recently announced it would be fielding candidates in the next round of council elections in the province.

Councillor Bob Stokoe, a former Lord Mayor of Belfast who lives in the Village area, said he thought that individuals from groups such as the BNP or Combat 18 may be involved."

I'm British, so the threatening rants of a foreigner don't bother me. We just keep calm, yawn, wait for whatever's coming, and then punish whatever country inflicted damage upon us.

In Republic of Ireland's case, how would they be able to cope with hundreds of British troops parachuting in on Dublin and Royal Navy warships prowling the coast of Ireland?
Uriel   Fri Mar 10, 2006 2:57 am GMT
Your silly rants don't bother us either. Most of the time we just scroll past whatever you've plagiarized this time. Only the new people pay attention to you -- except for when the old ones feel like making fun of you.
