I bett you thank God everyday that English has lost it :-)

'Übersetzung' is translation. Sander's question means 'Did you use a dictionary in/for this sentence?'
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 4:50 pm GMT
=>Hast du ein Wörterbuch gebraucht bei diesem satz?
<=

Nah, but close.

I said: "Did you use a dictionary for this sentence?"

Oh, for God's sake, that's the 3rd time today I've forgotten to sign in. That's me above! ;)
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 4:54 pm GMT
I had a suspicion...
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 4:56 pm GMT
Well, good that our translations were the same!!
Remember it's Satz not satz - capitalised nouns...;)

Danke, ja, English ist mein muttersprache aber ich lerne Deutsch fur drei monet jetz. Sehr dificile.

For this one, no i memorized it.
Thats practically the longest sentence i can write ;)
I know it needs some umlauts and word order is wrong, haha.
I learned just the very basics, like my name is, i am from etc....

vocabualry wise i memorized a few words so when i read a german web site i can pick out words here and there.

Do you think i can ever become fluent by being self taught or is the best way to take a course?
Guest   Sat Aug 27, 2005 4:59 pm GMT
Problem with me is i translate word for word so its wrong half the time.
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:00 pm GMT
Verdammt nochmal!,Sie brauchen nicht jeder Satz die ich hier aufschreibe zu verbessern! :-)

=>Do you think i can ever become fluent by being self taught or is the best way to take a course? <=

I'd recommend a course.
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:01 pm GMT
Hehehe Sander, I'll correct your German now as well as your English! ;) No seriously, I won't - I make FAR too many mistakes in German myself.... ;-)
WHy are you Sieing me?? Are we not Duing??
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:04 pm GMT

I'd highly recommend a course. I think you can only get so far teaching yourself, and there's nobody to explain things or correct your mistakes. Of course, it depends if a course is available, the cost, etc etc, so teaching yourself is better than nothing.
Sander   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:05 pm GMT
Well it is an learning site, but really when you get corrected for the umpfteenth because you misplaced a comma... it get's irritating :)
Candy   Sat Aug 27, 2005 5:09 pm GMT
Hey, I've never corrected your misplaced commas or apostrophes!!! Don't criticise me for things I haven't done!

Danke, die frau und der mann :)
