Who knows the truth or at least would like to know it?

I say /blu: aiz/ for blue eyes, but there is no linking r in my dialect.

I think we'd all say /blu:aiz/ (or maybe /blu:waiz/). This is what I say even though there is a linking /r/ in my dialected. I don't believe that there is anyone who says /blu:raiz/. I don't believe that the linking /r/ ever follows a close vowel*. After a close vowel you'd get a linking /w/ or /j/.

[blu: aiz] or [blu:..r aiz] The second one your describing seems to sound weird to me because you'd be saying ''bluer eyes''. Do you say ''blue eyes'' and ''bluer eyes'' the same way.
