Does this word sound archaic to you. It does to me. But, I think Jim uses it a lot.
Someone   Sunday, May 02, 2004, 22:21 GMT
It's British, not archaic.
Bill   Sunday, May 02, 2004, 22:23 GMT
I've heard a lot of times that it's an archaic word.
Chilli   Monday, May 03, 2004, 16:08 GMT
Nope. Still in mainstream use by me at least and no one's looked at me funny for saying it in the past decade or two.
Jim   Wednesday, May 05, 2004, 23:37 GMT
Yes, I use it a lot but not to seem archaic. It's not an archaic word to me nor is "amongst".
Bill   Wednesday, May 05, 2004, 23:40 GMT
I don't use ''whilst'' any more than ''dost'' or ''wast''.
Alice   Thursday, May 06, 2004, 03:18 GMT
I use both "whilst" and "amongst" occasionally.
Jim   Thursday, May 06, 2004, 04:24 GMT
I use ''whilst'' much more than ''dost'' or ''wast''.
