Difference of being wholesaler and distributor

Hi All,

I'm thinking of importing goods from a wholesaler oversea and then wholesale the goods back to the retailers here. I'm also hoping to have the only rights to import their products.

So what should I call myself then ? a wholesaler ? or distributor ?

I think both terms are used interchangeably. If you don't sell your goods directly to retailers, you might go through distributors and call yourself a wholesaler. If you do the distributing, which could imply a smaller scale of doing things, then you might call yourself a distributor. For those reasons, I don't see much of a distinction.
