"bad"," suck" and "..."

I was in the barbershop getting my hair cut. The barbar asks me how summer class are going. I reply that they suck. She then says something that means "bad". I'm not sure what the word was, but it sounded something like "pomer". Any clue what the word was?

My guess would be "bummer," a synonymous slang term for "that sucks."
