I pronounce Mcdonald's as [mikda:n.ldz] i.e. ''mick donald's''.
McChicken-[miktSik..n] i.e. ''mick chicken''.

''Mick donalds'' and ''mick chicken''.

Where are you from?
is that the standard american pronunciation?

I'd say that ''mick donald's'' [mikda:n.ldz] is the most common pronunciation of the fast food restaurant in America. If you want to learn the American Accent I'd say that you should pronounce it ''Mick donald's''.

Why?
do you have any idea where the i sound comes from?
Monday, October 11, 2004, 23:27 GMT
I'm afraid that I have no idea where the ''i'' sound in ''Mcdonald's'' comes from.

There is no "i" sound in my pronunciation of the word. Mine is more of a schwa sound....it sounds nothing like the name "mick." I disagree with Smith's assertion that his pronunciation is the most common in the U.S.

I always here ''Mick donald's'' in my region.

I think that both [mikda:n.ldz] and [m..kda:n.ldz] are equally as common in the U.S.
