The have (gal) issue again, is there by any chance the posibility that what always says is : "hey mates have go" could this mean " have a look"? well this one is for you aussies, since I used my headphones to carefully listen to him and it's the most likely.

Although I'm not an Aussie nor a Briton, I might be able to help...

"a go" can either mean "to fight", as in "Let me have a go at him" OR "give it a try"/"make an attempt", as in "Why don't you give it a go."
