Meaning of "well-regulated"

I don't believe people in the UK are guaranteed the right to own firearms, so you can't really say their rights are being trampled.

The US may have a high violent crime rate, but the percentage of homicides with guns to all homicides is comparable to most other nations. Of course there is little to no data available for crimes prevented by individuals who possess a gun, because such incidents go unreported.

Furthermore, yes gun violence is higher in the US than most developed countries, but following trends, the US has been relatively stable while other nations' crime rates have increased dramatically more than trends would have suggested (the UK following the 1997 ban, Australia after 1997). And Switzerland is much better off in this regard than the UK, and they have one of the highest gun counts per capita amongst developed nations.
