do you mind

if someone asks "do you mind me going there" and i want him to go there then i say "yes" but actually you should say "no" right??
but i'm prone to say "yes" because such questions feel very similar to "can you.."

do you always have to say "no" if you mean the other person can do what they asked???????????????

but whenever i say "yes" the other people seem to understand what i mean

If someone asks "do you mind..." I would respond with "no, go ahead."

It's amazing to say "I mind", just watch the reactions you get!

One time I said to "no" in response to "do you mind?" and the person thought I meant that I did mind.

It's an indirect question so in can be answered (rather confusingly) correctly in either manner.

"Do you mind me doing something" means "Does it bother or disturb you if I do this thing".

If it does not bother you, the answer is "No" or "Not at all" or something similar. If on the contrary it DOES disturb or bother you, then the answer would be "YES"
