Fellow Antimooners,

I'd like to poll your opinions on these two sentences:

1) Many of such dinosaur species lived in the Jurassic Period and the following Cretaceous Period.

2) Many of such dinosaur species lived in the Jurassic Period and in the following Cretaceous Period.

Is one of them better than the other? If so, which one?

Fly me to the Moon,

I'd go for:

3) 1) Many such dinosaur species lived in the Jurassic Period and the following Cretaceous Period.

I'd go with 2. Putting in the phrase "the following" breaks up the parallelism. If you want to employ parallelism, it should be "Many such dinosaur species lived in the Jurassic and Cretaceous Periods".
