question about japanese 'kotoba'

I know that the Semitic languages have a three consonant root, which modified by vowels change the word. The three consonant root is shared usually by other languages in the 'language group'.

K-T-B in hebrew is book.
kotoba in Japanese is word.

Are they related or did it happen by chance?

Thanks

They are not related at all! Who told you that?
