"Whether it is an unadorned metal pole, or whatever you are celebrating around this holiday season, Happy Festivus"

What is it?

Are you aware of Festivus? It was a joke holiday from an episode of Seinfeld: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festivus , and it remains quite popular. The holiday takes place on December 23, and its celebration has three main elements:

The Airing of Grievances, in which each family member complains about the conduct of the others.

The Feats of Strength, in which the head of the household challenges one of the family members to a wrestling match.

The Festivus Poll, which serves as a substitute for a Christmas tree. It's just a plain aluminum poll with no decorations on it.

Sorry, that should be "pole" instead of "poll". I've been focusing on politics too much. :)

No, politics is over -- we don't have to pay any attention to it again for at least three and half more years!
