To the Point of Distraction

Do you feel frustration if you can't identify an English accent?

Also, do you focus on the sounds more than the meaning of what is being said?

I wonder this because I can't stand to be in a store and hear a language I can't recognize. It's not quite the same thing, but it may be similar. I am filled with curiosity and I want to know what language it is.
Do you want to know the person's origin if you can't "Name that accent!"?

Hi

My partner is Polish and we live in Aberdeen. We often play the game of 'recognise the accent'.

I try to get her to recognise different accents, i.e. American, New Zealand, Australian, etc.

I also ask her to tell me which country, Eastern Europeans come from. We have quite a few Eastern European migrants (immigrants). On one occasion she thought that two men from Slovakia had an unusual Russian accent.
