Hi. I can't find the word ''notchy'' in any dictionary, what does it mean? as in
''Notchy gearbox''

notch -
1. an angular or V-shaped cut, indentation, or slit in an object, surface, or edge.
2. a cut or nick made in a stick or other object for record, as in keeping a tally.

9. notch up or down, to move up or down or increase or decrease by notches or degrees: The temperature has notched up another degree.

a notchy gearbox is probably a manual gearshift with very distinct positions/slots (notches) for each gear.

Finding 3rd gear with some cr@p manual gearshifts/gearsticks is like stirring a large pot of porridge. This isn't a problem with a notchy gearbox.
