It's like having a Polish last name or a Scottish one in the US. People see a stream of consonants or a Mc/Mac and they don't bother to spell it correctly after that if it looks the least bit difficult.
At least people with names like Anderson get asked "Is it 'sen' or 'son'?

Caspar loses his last name and becomes Casper T. at best and Sean is Sean Mc-something or other.
