"The Times" has Cartoons, which are often Political. They not always easy to understand because they require an understanding of British and World Politics, particularly recent events.

This is the page to access these Cartoons.

Some of these Cartoons may cause offence. However, I think that people learning English will find them interesting.

Which cartoon may cause offense?

I was thinking that the cartoon of Hilary Clinton could be regarded as offensive. You know there was a huge fuss about some Cartoons in a Danish Newspaper that caused offense in the Muslim world.

The Cartoons change on a daily basis.

If you look, not only do they show individual cartoons, but you can also see the work of a particular cartoonist, with explanations of what the Cartoons mean.

The Cartoon about Hilary Clinton has been replaced by one about Gordon Brown in the 'Gerald Scarfe' series of Cartoons.

If you click on the title: "Point Scoring", you can see the full cartoon and not just part of it. When you see the whole cartoon, you can then choose to see: "Scarfe's 2009 cartoons" or be redirected to the Scarfe Website: "Visit the Scarfe website" .

Unfortunately, with this Cartoon there is no explanation of what the Cartoon means. (There is a reference to the three Ronnies sketch on Social Class in Britain. The 'toff' - David Cameron - Looks down on the 'Ape' - Gordon Brown, and says "If I can say - sorry - and Bernie Madoff can say - sorry - Why can't you?)

Very Clever!

The Cartoon Series "Slideshow: "Nick Newman's Week" comes with explanations.
