Вы должны знать русский язык, это еще красивей, что Английский!

English is useful. Think about being in England and you are in a restaurant: how can you know what you are eating uh? But it's useful for other reasons. You can understand pop music in English or while you are visiting porn sites for example.

Iss English a very ugly language?

Francis, the head jailer, a fat Dravidian in a white drill suit and gold
spectacles, waved his black hand. "Yes sir, yes sir," he bubbled. "All
iss satisfactorily prepared. The hangman iss waiting. We shall proceed."

Here is a more important question for you Alessandro: why ask for reasons for learning English? You find it a very ugly language to learn, and thus you won't enjoy learning it, no matter what reasons the Antimoon crowd might provide you with. So in what way is it relevant for you to know some reasons to learn English? What will you gain from it? I'm not saying it won't get you anything, but I just don't see what...

I do not think it is important whether Alessandro wants to learn English or not. However the general question of

Why learn English?

is worth addressing.

Also, possibly in a seperate post, the question of whether or not English is an 'ugly' language.

I have considered teaching English. My partner used to teach English in Poland. She is quite clear about why learning English is a good idea. She grew up in a communist country where they were expected to learn Russian. She rebelled, and for her 'English' represented culture, education, and a whole load of good things.

Possibly she was overly idealistic. But now she despises Polish people who live in the UK and who are not prepared to learn English.

However, for other people, it may well be that learning English is not such a good idea. I can remember reading in antimoon that Launa Braun said she found the effort involved in keeping her English up to a high standard was not really worth the rewards that she got out of it.

Everybody has to make a choice as to how they spend their time and effort.

If you don't understant English, you can't understand anything in this forum, and in most others sites, you can't read the majority of books published in the world, you need read the subtitles in movies or watch translated, you can't understant the lyrics in pop musics, you can't communicate with Canadians, North Americans, Australians, Indians, English people, and with majority Europian people, etc.
Summarizing: You are a semi-analphabetic.

<<If you don't understant English, you can't understand anything in this forum, and in most others sites,>>

There are forums and sites in my native language too, and more and more of them all the time.

<<you can't read the majority of books published in the world,>>

How many people have read the majority of books anyway? There are enough books in my native language to keep me busy for 1000 lifetimes.

<< you need read the subtitles in movies or watch translated,>>

Only if you give a shit about Hollywood garbage.

<< you can't understant the lyrics in pop musics,>>

Only if you give a shit about Britney Spears and the like.

When was the last time you communicated with these people apart from a message on Antimoon allegedly written by one?

If you dont wish to learn English then Dont.
Angry ESL student and English sucks are most likely nationalistic pricks who believe that their languages are 'superior' to other peoples.
As for it being an 'ugly' language, is that not a matter of opinion?
Define 'ugly'.
Fact is speaking English is a skill and like any other is only what you make of it.
Are you seriosly claiming that it benefits you to not know something?

What is your native language if you don't mind me asking?

Speaking another language is a skill, that's it. I don't have a fav. language, it's just a skill to me. Would you ask me what my favorite skill is?

I'm glad that I don't have to learn English. Gradually, I've come to realize that my language is rich in idioms, vocabulary, and a bear for many people to pronounce. Heck, I wonder if I could even learn it as a second language learner.

If you don't learn English, then learn to accept the limitations that come with being unable to speak it. But...how can that be? If you read this, you've already come a long way in your English, so don't give up now!

Ever heard of compulsory education?

<<What is your native language if you don't mind me asking? >>

Japanese.

<<Angry ESL student and English sucks are most likely nationalistic pricks who believe that their languages are 'superior' to other peoples. >>

No it's just pointless.

Every language is also.

I wasted so much time learning English almost no benefits. I wish I had come the same long way in something else instead.
