Sauriez-vous traduire ce proverbe italien en un maximum de langues ?

« Chi dell' altrui prende,
La sua libertà vende. »

I guess I would translate that as:

"He who takes another's,
Sells his own freedom."

Meaning he who takes another's freedom, sells his own as well. I'm not a poet, so perhaps this could be said better, but I tried to stay true to the form of the proverb.

" Hij die eenander zijn vrijheid ontneemt,
Verkoopt dezijne."

« Qui accepte d'autrui,
Engage sa liberté. »

J'ai plutôt compris que le fait de recevoir d'une autre personne nous amène à renoncer à un peu de notre liberté.

Greg, you're French, why do u need translation if it's Italian?

He asked a translation in as many languages as possible. He does it because it's fun, not because he needs it. See?

I think we should seek Sorins opinion on this matter. Then we'll have an honest, mature response.
