Computer voices in Chinese

Most people have heard computer voices. If you have Windows XP, you can go into your control panel, go to speech, and you can test the computer default voice (Microsoft Sam). This is what most people think of when they think of computer voices.

In English, computer voices sound weird to most ears because the rhythm and inflection of each word is fixed for that one word rather than by sentence. Since Chinese is a tonal language, do Chinese computer voices suffer from this problem as well? Is it easier to make a Chinese computer voice that sounds realistic and believable than it would be for, say, English?

Chinese computer voices are light-years ahead of English-computer voices.
