Which one sounds more poetic?

I'm translating a Korean song into English.

<My heart can’t stop pounding even as we parted.
"We used to love each other."
It still seems like that now.
The pain doesn’t wash away.
Though I tried several times to endure it.
It’s so hard to live day by day without you.
You are my life.>

Which one sounds more poetic and fluid?
a) "We used to love each other. It still seems like that now."
b) "We once loved each other. It still seems like that now."

Also, feel free to suggest me better words/expressions.

We loved each other once.

"We once loved each other. It still seems like that now."

This is ambiguous if not unclear. I suggest "It seems like we still do now".

Thanks ua, I agree that "It seems like we still do now." makes more sense.

Any other ambiguous/unclear part you would like to edit?

My heart can't slow down, even as we part ways
We used to be lovers
Still seems like we are
This pain won't go away
I keep trying to endure it
It's so hard to live without you
Because you are my life
