Current status of Occitan?

To me the language that influenced Spanish most (appart from Spanish of course) is Basque. Spanish has 5 vowels because of the Basque influence. As I said, Mozarabic had more vowels than Spanish, also distinguished B from V and had other sounds that were lost in Spanish. Mozarabic was also spoken in Portugal and Catalonia, but phonetics of Portuguese and Spanish are vastly different.
