English ——The culprit of committing cultural genocide

Do you think the English language has been and is the world's biggest culprit of committing cultural genocide through its historically imperialistic, present-day hegemonic spread the world over, nibbling away the surviving spaces of other minority languages without shedding a single drop of tears?

No. It's not English's fault. It's YOUR fault for writing in English. By writing your last post in English you just PROMOTED the spread of English, you yourself PROMOTED the use of English as a global tongue.

I don't think so. English is the second or foreign language of a lot of people. It is an useful tool to understand people from different cultures.

But these people have their own languages. So, they don't lose their mother tongue language.

The only problem is for French or other languages, because people prefer to study English as second or foreign language. But that's the law of supply and demand.

Let's not throw the word "genocide" around casually. It's like the word "nazi". Everyone someone doesn't like is a "nazi" now. In the future maybe kids will think that "nazi" means "not so nicey"...

Best bet is for China to spill over its borders, and engage in a "real genocide" against all the non-Chinese cultures around the world. Result: problem with English "cultural genocide" solved once and for all.

China doesn't need genocide to show its true face. It is already suppressing Tibet. Should we remind ourselves of the Tienanmen Square massacre? And how current students have no idea of this even when Western journalists ask them what they think about it?

Should we even bring up the countless, now nameless people who died from political repression?

Or the woman who was shot BY THE STATE because she was late to work too many times?

OK, China behaves harshly against people who are against communism. But USA does the same against those who are against capitalism. For example, revise what happened to anarchists in USA like Sacco and Vanzetti for example. China and USA are both totalitarian countries. State has too much power. In the case of USA I agree that they tolerate freedom of speech, but as long as it does not pose a real threat against the system.

Sacco and Vanzetti happened 90 years ago... and everyone knows about them.

USA has not changed as much since then. It is a low intensity fascist country.

There is no real comparison between the USA and China when it comes to human rights violations.
The USA(like most countries) is guilty of neglecting human rights on occasion.
