Spanish is even interesting for the history of the Low Countries (Northern France, Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands).

Yes. Some 50 countries (including only regions) and half of the United States where sometime part of Spain.

So, Spanish is also in the list of the most important languages in History.

For example Archivo de Indias in Seville stores 80 million pages about the activity of the mighty Spanish people in Americas from the XV century until the XIX century. One can learn a lot about the style of life of first settlers in Americas, how they dressed, their beliefs, their relations with natives , pagan religions of these and a lot of other things, assumed one understands Spanish. The nice building that hosts this massive Archive is of Renaissance style and is considered along with the Archive itself as World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Hmmm....Can you give us all you have about the Mayan doomsday in 2012?

Please, it is important! I will vote for Spanish!

I'm not an historician, so I have no access to the Archive.

Then, the languages used by the countries you're focussing upon.
