damn/damned

I want to know if other people have problems when hearing damn or damned in a conversation, if they tend to confuse them as I do. For example in:

"Give JD the damned crowbar, and get her out of there".

I was hearing this phrase and i thought that it was said damn, but in the text it red damned. I have this problem often, because I don't hear the sound of d in damned. It also happens with other forms of verb present/past like can/canned, ram/rammed,etc.

I would like input from both native speakers and learners.

It because they're probably saying "damn"

even though "damned" is more grammatically correct.

we do this same thing with a lot of words, like "barbed-wire"-- > usually people just say "barb wire"

"no holds barred" becomes "no hold's bar", "cross-eyed" --> "cross-eye" etc.

Just use 'damn.' I never hear or read 'damned,' seriously. The only context it fits in is someone's grandfather saying it. I think it was just slowly replaced by 'damn.'

Even speaking grammatically, the only context in which someone would possible point it out is some stodgy English teacher, who'd be more annoyed that you used a swear word in an essay. :P "Damned" may as well not even exist.
