Languages in India

And even if English would decline, it will live on as a spoken language in India. There are also still speakers of Dutch in Indonesia, and that language is totally not necessary there.

But this isn't comparable as Dutch didn't serve a vernacular language, Bahasa did. Dutch colonials even spoke Indonesian with the locals and they only succeeded in partly establishing Dutch-speaking schools.

I must say most of the younger generation in urban India have neglected their native tongues in the favor of English. They do not know how to properly read, let alone write their own languages.
