L-vocalisation and cluster simplification

I know that words like 'bold', 'called' lose their final consonant when followed by a word beginning with a consonant eg someone called me kɔ:l mi.
But if a word like 'called' is pronounced with its L vocalised
eg someone called me -
would 'd' in 'called' be dropped or not (thus kɔod mi)?

I don't like the bold/bald merger.
In my accent (Colorado), it's pronounced as it is written:

bold [bO(u)ld] rounded o
bald [bAld] unrounded vowel as in father

so I would interpret your ''kɔod mi'' as CODE ME.
It's [kA:ld mi] here.

I don't like L vocalisation, it sounds retarded, dark and light L distinction is normal to me or fully clear or dark L's. English is a global language and all minority pronunciations don't matter.
