The main problem trying to understand asians is that they speak very quickly. If you slow down your speech at first you will eventually learn how to perform the desired accent you are working towards.
Despite the comments made before there are decent and horrible people where ever you go including the UK. Just be careful about who you trust at first and I would recommend going through a study aboad program or staying with people that who know. Either way I'm sure you will be fine. If you have several languages at your disposal you will be able to find a job quite easily.
