Hi dear all
When I hear this phrase (see subj) I imagine big red tomato with knife in one hand and fork in the other ready to eat whatever comes close to it. It makes me laugh. But also it makes me sad as the prase is quite normal and widely used, instead of clumsy passive "Food ready to be eaten".
Just wonder about the cases, where the difference is important unlike this case.
