hı,would it be possible for someone that has a heavy accent to overcome it even if he is in late 20s?if so,then how would he overcome it cos i learnt that there are alot of barries and braekin them seems to a very difficult task.pls let me knw if it is really possible to neutralise my accent cos am tired of being bullied by my friends simply because they are easy to b understood compare to my case.thanx

Possibly not. Children have the best chances of learning second languages and overcoming accents. This has been my experience with foreigners in the U.S. and even something that a Romanian immigrant with a strong accent once told me.

I agree with Brennus,just a child have chance to change or overcome to accents.we really can do that hardly 'cos we used to express them.

I just partially agree with you Brennus.
People can change their accent, less or more if they "work it out".
If they are not very young yes I agree..they will never get red of the accent, but they can improve it.
I came over USA 10 years ago when I was 28 and I believe I changed my accent.
I will post a sample of my speach soon to see if you even can tell me where I am from.
