Anemic royalty

Hi,

While I am reading the lyric of "Pennyroyal Tea — Nirvana", I have a problem of understanding one sentence "I'm anemic royalty".

I was wondering if someone could tell me what the meaning of "I am anemic royalty" is?

I checked the dictionary, "anemic" means "weak", weak royality?? or a weak person with royal rank??

Anemic usually means suffering from a shortage of blood, i.e. iron, and thus appearing pale, sickly and weak. In connection with royalty it might be a reference to inbreeding.

Wasn't anemia common in the royal house of Russia before the Bolshevisk Revolution?

Not quite. The little Grand Duke had hemophilia.

I would read that usage of "anemic" as pale, washed-out, and weak, rather than as a reference to the actual disease of anemia. But then again, I don't know that I would read all THAT much into ANY of Nirvana's lyrics -- a lot of them didn't really make much sense.
