Is Low Back Meger IN?
I read that Low Back Merger accent are normally
found sexier, cooler ;)
Is it true? Is it IN to rhyme DAWN and DON?
KNOTTY and NAUGHTY?
:) non merged accents seem a bit oldfashioned to me.
HOT DOG [hAt dAg] sounds better than [hAt dOg] or [hAt dOwg].
Any thoughts to share?
Peace & Luv.

yeah, the Low back merger is in! It's the best thing since sliced bread. All the coolest people have it. All of us Wild west cowboys have it, whereas back east, they lack it. Those non-merged Easterners sound quite quaint and old fashioned to us.

but seriously folks... most of us Westerners don't even know that there are some people who pronounce cot and caught differently--since the merger means that we perceive them as the same, even if some people make a slight difference between them--we pronounce them both ways. We can't really hear most Northerners' accent, except those NCVS fellows that say "cat" for "cot", or Northeasterners that make caught sound like "cohwaht"--now that sounds quite strange to us.
