For over fifty years, the idea of "embodied" intelligence — intelligence defined through its surroundings — has been discussed amongst Artificial intelligence (AI) researchers.
(What does "embodied" mean here? )
Thank you very much.

Embodied Intelligence means that an intelligent agent that has a body.

The reason why there is an element of confusion, is that if 'embodied intelligence', is intelligence with a body, how can it be:

<<<intelligence defined through its surroundings>>>

By definition: embodied intelligence, is defined through its body.

Individuals get their identity from an interaction between their body, and their environment. So, it is possibly saying that you can look at the surroundings as well as the body, to see what the identity is.
