What does "off-note" mean? (not "of note"). Thanks!

Off-note? Like in music? When I hear "off-note" I think of either 1) someone singing or playing an instrument out of key or 2) someone emphasizing the off beat...Sorry...

It could mean a note which you give someone if you want them to off someone for you. I.e if you want to "off" your brother-in-law who has threatened to expose your money laundering schemes, you get in contact with a hitman and give him a note with details of the job. It's possible this could be described in criminal slang as an "off-note" though take careful note of the fact that I'm not talking out of my mouth, but rather through a different orifice.
