Transfer(r)ing
Hi!
In GAE, is it common to write "transfering" with one 'r' instead of two? Thanks.
Sometimes it is written that way, but I think most of the time it takes two <r>s. (For example, "transferring" gets 38.5 million Google hits, whereas "transfering" gets only 2.1 million.)
As another example, m-w.com lists "canceled" and "traveled" as the primary American spellings, but for "transfer" they give only "transferring", not even mentioning "transfering". I would definitely prefer "transferring", because the second syllable usually has a primary or secondary stress. |
