The typical office is all too often not too different from the campaign trail, including the potholes.

Potholes are little holes in roads that cause cars to bounce when they travel over them - so they are annoying.

So in this sentence the world "potholes" means "problems".

It's pronounced like the word "pot" and the word "holes" joined together.

adam is it like pot-holes we dont prounounce it with th sound like thought?

No, there is no 'th' sound; the two parts are pronounced separately. If you know X-SAMPA, it's like this /pQt.h@Ul/ in RP, or /pAt.hoUl/ in General American.

leena is a girl who lacks technical nous. Teach her in a simple way.

Do we pronounce "pot" as "put" in the given phrase?

<< Do we pronounce "pot" as "put" in the given phrase? >>

Why would you do that? Pronounce it as 'pot', as in "pots and pans".
