per se

Hello,

Under the headline "Astronauts share the view in honor of Earth Day" in USA TODAY, I read this morning what John Glenn, first American to orbit the Earth (1962) and former U.S. senator, has talked about, when he returned from space :

"I think you can't go to space and not be changed, in many ways ....
"All of the teachings of the Bible that talk about the creator and his creation take on new meaning when you can view the details of the Earth from that perspective. So it didn't change my faith per se, the content of it, but it just enhanced it, it made it even more real."

I know the meaning of "per se", but what I would like to know now is how this expression should be correctly pronounced.

Thank you very much for your kind help and answers.

Most people say it [pr\= se].

As Guest said, it's pronounced /pr\= "se/.

It is odd to see that the word is listed in most eletronic and on-line dictionaries but its pronunciation is not given. Can anyone list the pronunciation as well in Tom's transcription?

Meanwhile I have got an accurate answer on Marriam-Webster online, and is very happy to have discovered this site :

It should be the American way of pronunciation of "per se". I like it.

Thank you anyway very much for your answers.

Cheers.
