The Global English Survey Project

Would you like to see how people from other (non-English-speaking) countries speak English? Everyone always studies how the natives speak it, and now I thought it was time we looked at how foreigners speak it. The survey tracks not only how people's native languages affect their English pronunciation, but also measures who prefers to learn British English and who learns American English.

The survey is at www.global-english.co.nr so if English is not your first language, take the survey, and you can all discuss it here, predict how the results will look, debate over who has the bigger linguistic empire (US or UK), tell me how flawed all the questions are, etc.

I took the test and my results were very mixed, mostly an English spelling and the American pronounciation of the 'r'. The influence of my first language only affected me in the pronounciation of boat, bought and bot. It is VERY difficult for Spanish/Italian speakers to distinguish between all those vowels, we only have 5!
