Pancake Madness

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch - Canada
In the episode "Pancake Madness," Hilda is transferred back to the northern part of the Other Realm after not filling out her immigration papers. The northern part of the Realm is a lot like Canada: cold and snowy, hockey is being watched on TV, and on the wall beside the phone are pictures of Canadian stars. Even the way Hilda talks in 'Canadian'. This is actually because the actress who plays Hilda, Caroline Rhea, is from Canada.

my question:
why did Canadians find it offensive?

Probably because it's continuing stereotypes for comedic purposes.

My response to the easily offended: Chill out. People assume Texans are idiots, and we take a lot of crap for that stereotype. If we're unable to laugh at it, we'll just end up spending a lot of time being miserable...

Zelda said: ''about (w/Canadian raising), I mean: about (General American)''

;)
it didn't sound like ''a boot'' but like ''a boat'' (with Californian/UKlike [ou], that is a diphthong between [@u] and [ou])

it was Hilda, not Zelda
my bad :)

ps
I like Zelda's accent
it's General American with a Southern spice :)
