UFO pronunciation

Why is "UFO" pronounced "yoo eff oh" rather than say "yoofo"? In some languages, it actually is pronounced as a word rather than as an abbreviation.

It's not, because it's not? I don't know, why don't you ask the daemon of the English language?

It's just the way it is and that's that. That's how language is, It's not like a science or something--it's just the agreements by people over time how things will be expressed.

For the same reason we don't turn FBI into "fibby" or CIA into "seeah" -- because they are letters that stand for other words, not words unto themselves. True, some acronyms have become words unto themselves, like radar, but these have not.
