Is this year pronounced "twenty twenty" or "two thousand twenty"? I personally think the former sounds cool.

I don't think it's been used enough for a consensus to develop, but I'm strongly in favor of the "twenty" version in any case.

What about the people (rarely, usually TV documentaries, etc) who say "19-8" for 1908? I HATE that! So I guess we should say "20-8" right now! Oops, that sounds dumb....28?

'the year twenty twenty'
'the year two thousand [and] twenty'

either works for me--they're both the same

like '19-O [--the letter O] -8' and 'nineteen hundred and eight'
same thing

I am fairly confident that the year will be called "twenty twenty". "Twenty twenty" is much easier to say than "two thousand and twenty", and also is how years are normally said (like how 1954 is "nineteen fifty-four" not "one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four"). And that's how I've heard it said for future events happening in 2010 or later.

I suppose we will have to wait until 2010 to know for sure.

I'm gonna keep on saying "two thousand X" until 2011. I find it easier saying "two thousand eight" than "twenty oh eight" too many vowels together i wind up saying "twenty weight".

twenty twenty and two thousand and twenty both work for me. for 1908 i say nineteen-o-eight, but for 2008 i prefer two thousand and eight, possibly because twenty-o-eight just has too many vowel sounds in a row (y-o-e) and it sounds a bit weird when i say it that way, especially if i'm feeling lax and say 'twenny' rather than twenTy
