Why is British Olympic team is called Team GB, not Team UK?

That would go against international law and respect for the UK's territorial integrity.

Kosovo's independence does not go against any international law and respect for XXXX's territorial integrity.
So do South Ossetia and Abkahzia.

Some Scots even demand for independence from GB!

We cannot accept such a move which does not respect the UK's territorial integrity. The USA has always held this position. We support democracy and territorial integrity. Only in the case of Weapons of Mass Destruction does the saftey of the world come first.

We adopt such a move which is in the best interest of protecting the human rights of people of Ossetia and Abkahzia according to international law.

I appear before the nation with an important announcment. The United States of America has invaded Cuba to protect our citizens in that Nation. We also recognise the independence of Bush Family Ranch. And thus by the constitution of this nation we declare that we cannot be extradited to a foreign power for trial for war crimes. Thank you.

God Bless Bush Family Ranch.

It is entirely up to the people of Northern Ireland themselves to decide whether they wish to be part of the United Kingdom or the Republic of Ireland. It is their choice entirely, and although all the scenes of violence and turmoil are now consigned to the history books, the decision to either remain British or become Irish nationals can be made democratically every time there is a General Election in the UK - which have to take place Constitutionally no more than five years apart.

Each and every election shows the Republican (Separatist) party/parties well down in the polls behind those who support the status quo (this could be part of another thread currently active couldn't it?).

The British Government are duty bound to accede to the wishes of the people of Northern Ireland, and what they decide will be respected. The thing is this - they wish to remain part of the UK by a ratio of about 4:1 according to the last UK General Election in 2005. The next will have to take place before June 2010 at the very latest under current rules. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to believe the situation will change.

As usual, a religious divide is a factor in NI and this has been the case throughout history, not only in NI today, but also in Britain generally in the past, and so it's been the case elsewhere in the world, and still is in places. To my mind religious belief should be a very private matter, and it bugs me big time when it causes strife between people, or influences national politics in any way. Thankfully it's irrelevant in Britain these days - discounting any possible Islamic intereference from a very small minority of our population that is.......

So what is the bigger "problem" today? "Catholics vs Protestants" or "Christians vs Muslims"?

The biggest problem is Terrorist activities, which seem to pose a major threat to British society. The latest memeory is the tunnel explosions in London 2005.

As London is to hold Olympic Games 2012, it is most likely that terrorists of various kinds are already turning their eyes to the event and do something about it.

We work closely together to fight terrorism.

Why doesn't UK invade the fucking republic of Ireland?

"Why doesn't UK invade the fucking republic of Ireland? "

They already did

<<Why doesn't UK invade the fucking republic of Ireland? >

Because that would undermine the terrotiorial integrity of the UK.
