Why is British Olympic team is called Team GB, not Team UK?

I agree. The rest of Ireland should have remained as part of the UK.

You should probably blame those bloody Americans for the use of the word Team. They DO call Russia "Team Russia", Finland "Team Finland", etc. At least they do in the hockey.

They even call the Czech Republic "Team Czech", as if Czech was a country. If you think Czech Republic is too long a name, fine, but then don't add another word in front of it. Or better yet, use the real short name of the country: Czechia.
