French sounds like French.
It's somewhat similar to a hevy nasalized (and devoided of "r's") Welsh.

Well,French does not sound like German, but similar to German. Both languages have roots in Old Frankish (Germanic) language.

You say it as if French was a Germanic language or something. French has its roots in Vulgar Latin, and sounds so odd because of the Gaulish substratum.

French sounds so odd because of Germanic Frankish superstratum.
