Pues sí que hay.
Why German is not popular here?
I don't think the Germans are ashamed of their own language. They simply don't consider this forum to be relevant enough for a German to speak in his language on here. They have better things to do rather than posting in German on Antimoon, for example developing new theories in science, secret world domination plans, etc.

True, they're all out doing what we should be doing but aren't: making money, snowboarding and skiing, rock-climbing and bergsteigening, auto-racing, and having a good time doing it...
Man, they put us to shame and they aren't even here

Are you in a madhouse at the moment?
Bist du gerade in einer Irrenaltstat ?

<<German historical shame extends to their language as well. >>

What the heck is a "labor journey"? Do you mean "business day"? Sounds like someone used an online translator there.
Why this language should be important?
I think this language is clearly overestimated. It is not in the top ten languages. It is spoken by 100 million ONLY in Central Europe. It is like Korean in Asia (a language spoken by 90 million people there). And Korean is not an international language...

German is second only to English in terms of people outside the areas where it is spoken natively learning it as a foreign language.
Of course it's an important language.

It seems there are a lot of misconceptions about German and the germans underway in this thread.
Maybe you should travel to Germany and have yourself a look :D
And how important is the question of the importance of a language, in general? - To decide, wether it´s worth learning it or not?
It´s not THAT hard to learn.
I mean: Try to learn swiss german, and then compare ;)
It´s true, some germans are struggling to learn foreign languages.
But hey, I have a very crisp memory of my first trip to Paris, and this stiff bartending guy who wasn´t to proud to answer me, but simply couldn´t speak anything but french...
You´re probably right when you think that you´ll find more language skilled people in Berlin - and, because of it´s historical situation then and now, a greater willingness to respond to your native language as a visitor as good as possible.
But then again you must know that Berlin is overflown by tourists and immigrants of all kind (today Berlin, tomorrow the world...), that make the once slain and divided city slowly become the melting pot again, that it has been some ninety years ago.
And if you remember well, you might find, you are probably yourself a Berliner...remember JFKs speech?
"All free men, wherever they may live, are citizens of Berlin,
and, therefore, as a free man,
I take pride in the words: Ich bin ein Berliner!"
And from there on: We´re all Berliners. How hard can this language be?
But then of course, it´s an important language, your gruesome German.

In my country, Spain, Germans are always depicted as Nazis, for example in the electoral campaign video of the Socialist Party a German nazi appears shouting. Very disgusting. funny enough it's the Socialist Party that is closer to the Nazis because supports eugenesics.
That´s funny - in an electorial campaign? Of a spanish party supporting eugenics?
Is there a video of this available online on youtube or something?
It´s hard to believe, but I couldn´t imagine a german party get through with a video like that, no matter how tough the election campaign.
And if it´s not satirical, it would surely be forbidden, apart from the fact that the Nazi symbols itself are forbidden in Germany.
....but we got a bit off track here....
The question is:
Why is german not popular as a language
on this antimon language forum, right?
