"Alsace is, if compared to its wealthy neighbors Baden (Germany) and Swizzerland, relatively poor. If tourism and Swizz/German enterprises implanted in Alsace weren't there, the contrast would be even stronger. What is the reason for this? Do different languages (French in Alsace, Allemanic German in Baden and Swizzerland) have some impact on economy? Or is it the legislation? "

In the last 10 years it has become economically interesting for Alsatians to speak German again, since they can work then in Switzerland and Germany or work in the tourist sector. Therefore, the Alsatian dialect is noe learned and spoken by much more people than before.

<<The alsacian people does not need to leran alsacian since they speak it at home. >>

A lot of them have neglected the Alsation dialect in order to fit into the French economical system. Now with the European union, nationalistic frontiers are not able anymore to separate regions that belong together.

<<at least tourism is much more bigger in France tyhan germany and Switzerland both. >>

I meant that speakers of the Alsatian dialect can work in the Alsatian tourist industry, while monolingual speakers of French can't do it.
