I pronounce them differently. But I looked them up in the dictionary and it said they were pronounced the same. Is it just me, or are there other people that make the distinction. The dictionary tells me that they're supposed to be pronounced the same.
Typo,

I would pronounce those the same, but differently to the word 'tired'.
''Tide'', ''tied'' and ''tired'' are all different in my accent.
Tired and tide will not be pronounced the same by rhotic speakers.
As for non-rhotic speakers, you'll have to ask them yourself. I can't
speak for them.
D, my question was not about ''tired'' and ''tied'' but ''tied'' and ''tide''.
I pronounce them identically. How do you pronounce them differently? Is that the length of the vowel /ai/?
Yeah, I think that's how I'd describe the difference.
The /ai/ is lengthened in ''tied'' for me and so it's distinct from ''tide''.
Tied and tide are the same in my accent. The /ai/ in tired is lengthened.
> D, my question was not about ''tired'' and ''tied'' but ''tied'' and ''tide''.
My fault; I misread the original question by inserting an r.
I pronounce tied and tide exactly the same. No difference whatsoever.
The word dyed is an exact rhyme as well.
I pronounce ''tied'', ''tide'' and ''tired'' the same way. They are homonyms in my Sydney Australian accent.
tied/tide are the same
tired is different, because it has the urrrrr in it!
Only in rhotic accents :-) for me 'tired' is just /`tai-..d/
Jim, I'm from Australia and I pronounce ''tide'' and ''tired'' differently. It's interesting that you pronounce them the same way. What about ''wired'' and ''wide'', do you pronounce them the same way too?
