Mark, I have to admit that I felt like I was reading a coded language of your questions, I tried to follow. Below is a link of a webpage about phenomes and allophones. There's a 'table of contents' at the bottom of that page and its website may help give you some ammunition to prove your theory OR it may disprove it entirely-- then again, the pages may prove to be completely irrelevant. Excuse me but I just couldn't resist adding this statement from a PM who was asked exactly what kind of proof he needs-- this was his response:
